It's been a while...

A friend and fellow blogger recently brought it to my attention that I have not updated this in a while. Sometimes the days/weeks/months just fly by so fast!

Everything has been great with us and the kids except for a few glitches here and there. Kaleb is back to mild tantrums every so often. Typical for his age I know but it always feels worse when it's a step in the wrong direction.

We've also had an especially hard time with naps and bedtime. Since Kelby has been sick with first, an ear infection, and then now a cold, we have tried to keep them separate to not pass it back and forth. Which means Kaleb napping in our room, so much to his approval that now he is a nightmare when it comes time to go to bed in his own room at night. I guess we should have figured that would happen, because it always seems like as soon as we make a decision that is designed to benefit the kids it follows with a negative consequence. We really just wanted Kelby to be able to get some good solid rest so she can better, and it works on that front. She sleeps like a champ when big brother isn't around to determine her sleeping schedule for her.

On one particular night he would just not calm down and Kelby wanted desperately to go to sleep. So we put him in our room, at which time Kelby was able to promptly fall asleep, and then slept for 13 hours! If only we had a 3rd bedroom...ugh!

There have been so many benefits to having them share a room, but at this age I really think they are just too young for it to work the right way. For a while it definitely was soothing for both of them, made our life a little easier and bedtime a breeze. But as they branch out more in their personalities I think they would rather have their own space for sleeping purposes. But our living situation is not going to change anytime soon so I guess we'll just have to be miserable, oops, I mean make the best of it! he he

Kelby also had her first tantrum the other day and surprisingly it was adorable! She did the 'throw herself on the floor and start kicking' kind, and as I watched her I couldn't help but laugh. I think that just egged her on because she has always loved the attention, whether negative or otherwise. She wasn't even upset about anything that I know of, so I suspect she is modeling big brother once again, since that seems to be his tantrum position of choice. She can definitely be fussy in her own right, so as not to make Kaleb seem like the only bad seed (LOL), but it just doesn't bother me as much as it used to with him. She has a typical "little sister" personality, mostly fussing and whining when she doesn't get something Kaleb has that she wants. Kinda like anything I put on his plate to eat she sits there and whines until I give her the same thing.

Yesterday Kaleb ran for his life when I tried to give him a Twinkie for the first time (yes I know my child is weird when it comes to food), and so when I gave Kelby one she scoffed at it as well, which only happens with her with food if she sees Kaleb doing it. Great, now what am I going to do with a whole box of Twinkies??!! Lou will be in heaven for a week! Yeah right, he'll have them gone by the time he's done fast forwarding through the commercials on the DVR!

Ok well that's all I can think of to report right now. Of course there's a ton more but obviously the negative issues are clouding my happy place right now so I can't think of much more.

Oh actually, my birthday is next Sunday, which is only exciting because we're going to Disney again. It's free on your birthday and since the kids are still free we'll all get in for just the price of Lou's ticket. You know me, always looking for a cheap thrill! We're going to the park for just the one day then hanging in Orlando for a day after to do some stuff at Downtown Disney, etc. Should be fun as long as Kelby and I get better and Lou and Kaleb stay healthy (fingers crossed, please God help us out!).

I also just got done reading the Twilight set of novels, literally about 2500 pages, which I finished in under a week, yes with 2 kids at home the whole time! I was staying up until 2 and 3 in the morning, and then reading all day long, so much so the kids were looking for a foster family to rescue them! No not really but I know they were not happy with it. But hey, both my kids love books so I am merely helping to foster that important aspect in their lives! The books were awesome though so I highly recommend anyone else that is as into vampire and werewolf stories as I am to check them out!

Ok well little Bubba just came up to me with his big brown puppy dog eyes and asked me to play with him so I'm off to see just how bad we can trash the playroom before the scary idea of naptime comes along!

Here's some recent pix, although I have been slacking in that department too!

Lou would be mortified if he knew I put this on here but I couldn't resist! See what happens when it's been a while when you've been out with the girls?? And this was even before the Rum and Cokes!

One of those pictures Lou says Kaleb will not thank me for...but I love it!

Kelby & I with Darth Vader at the Walk for Autism...in every picture her and I were in she is rubbernecking around me to look at them; she wasn't scared at all though, just curious!

And then of course there's Kaleb, crying and deathly afraid of him!

Posing in his new big boy undies...thought they'd look cute and I was right! He's still not potty trained but we're working on it!
